HemogloBind¢â Cited in Pesticide
Toxicology Study of Post-Mortem Changes in Blood
MONMOUTH JUNCTION, NJ, January 23, 2021-- Biotech Support Group reports on a journal article
describing the simplicityand efficiency of their HemogloBind¢â sample preparation technology for
theanalysis of the pesticide methomyl, and its Hemoglobin derivatives. The
citation is:
Yamagishi,
Yoshikazu, Hirotaro Iwase, and Yasumitsu Ogra. "Post-Mortem
Changes of Methomyl in Blood with Hemoglobin." Chemical Research in
Toxicology.
Methomyl is a widely used pesticide that hasbeen detected in many fatal cases of accidental
exposure or suicide. Forensictoxicologists have been baffled that the blood methomyl
concentration inpersons who have died of methomyl poisoning is much lower than the expected
concentration in blood. In this study, the researchers considered specificmethomyl hemoglobin
adducts detected by liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flightmass spectrometry (LC-
Q/TOF-MS). To help isolate Hemoglobin, the article states¡°Hb was separated with HemogloBind in
accordance with the manufacturer¡¯s instructions.¡± Theauthors conclude that one Hemoglobin
derivative, the W-adduct could be used asa biomarker of methomyl poisoning.

¡°I am very pleased that our users have foundstill another application for HemogloBind¢â,this time
in the isolation of Hemoglobin for more in-depth analysis. Its simpleprotocol and compatibility with
liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flightmass spectrometry (LC-Q/TOF-MS) makes this
possible.¡±
