ends of the crosslinker terminate with amino groups. Carboxyl groups react with the crosslinker's amines to

form stable amide bonds. Aldehydes and ketones react to form Schiff bases. Reduce Schiff bases to

secondary amines for improved bond stability. The cross-bridge of this molecule consistsof a single

molecular weight, discrete chain length polyethylene glycol (dPEG?) linker. The dPEG?linker is 49 atoms

long and spans a distance of 57.1 Å. This molecule is useful for modifying carboxylic acid-functionalized
