RNA is ideal for Northern blotting, ribonuclease protection assay, SI nuclease assay, RT-PCR analysis, rapid

amplification f cDNA ends (RACE) and purification of mRNA for library construction. All RNA samples are treated

with RNase-free DNase to remove residual DNA, precisely quantified, and stored at -80^oC. The integrity of each

RNA sample as indicated by intact 28S and 18S ribosomal RNA  is verified by denaturedagarose gel

electrophoresis. The purity of RNA is assessed by spectrophotometer (A260/A280: 1.9-2.1). Itis provided in

RNase-free water, 1mM sodium citrate, or 0.1 mM EDTA at a concentration of 1 mg/ml.

 

DNA samples are suitable for PCR, Southern blot analysis, and DNA library construction. Samples are treated with

DNase-free RNase to remove contaminant RNA and provided in 1.5-ml tubes at a concentration of 1mg/ml in TE

buffer.

 

Total protein samples can be used in Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, SDS-PAGE, isoelectric focusing gels

and SDS-capillary electrophoresis. The quality of protein as indicated by the absence of smear (no degradation)

and sharpness and resolution of the protein bands are verified by denatured SDS-PAGE with Coomassie blue

staining. The integrity of protein is tested by immunoblotting using specific beta-actin antibody. Proteinsamples

are provided in 1.5-ml tubes in protein lysis buffer supplemented with a cocktail of 7 protease inhibitors to

minimize proteolysis at a concentration of 5mg/ml.

 

Shipping and Storage:  RNA, DNA, and protein set samples are shipped on MSy ice and are stable for one year if

stored properly at -70^oC.
